Make a Meaningful Difference: Become a McAuliffe PTSA 2024-2025 Board Member
If you’re ready to collaborate with a dedicated team of parents, teachers, and school administrators to support and advocate for the McAuliffe students, we want to hear from you! The PTSA works in partnership with the school to fund and organize projects, events, and programs at McAuliffe that enhance the academic experience of our students, build relationships with their peers, and support student well-being. We are looking for dynamic parents, grandparents, or other family members of students to fill the following roles:
VP GRANTS AND GIVING: Prepare grant request documents and disseminate after receiving grant requests from the president, treasurer, or McAuliffe staff. Act as McAuliffe’s Lake Washington School Foundation’s Ambassador. Oversee McAuliffe PTSA’s charitable giving, such as the Holiday Outreach, Fall Coat Drive, Sunshine Fund, and Pantry Packs.
VP ART: Lead McAuliffe’s Art Start Program! Recruit, train and support the Art Start parent volunteer team which plans and leads art projects in each classroom. Ensure supplies and resources are available; ensure kiln and art start storage room are maintained. Recruit volunteers for art events, such as Student Art Show, Square One Art fundraiser, and the annual Reflections competition.
VP FUNDRAISING: Plan/coordinate the PTSA’s only active annual fundraiser: the Challenger Chase Fun Run! Design and order the annual event t-shirt; solicit donations and procure prizes for participating students. Recruit volunteers to help with the event, counting donations, and the Fun Run Prize Assembly. Coordinate sales of school Spirit Wear.
VP SCHOOL EVENTS: Plan/coordinate PTSA events for the school such as Back to Business, Ice Cream Social, Talent Show, Book Bazaar, Bingo Night, School Play, International Night, and Fifth Grade Promotion. Recruit and oversee event chairs and volunteers to help with these events and coordinate with school staff and vendors.
VP SCHOOL SERVICES: Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of all service programs the PTSA performs for the school including Back to School Packets, Payload Production, coordinating volunteers for School Pictures/Class Photos (the office staff will work with the vendor for setting up dates), Vision and Hearing Screening, Yearbook, Room Parent Coordinator, Emergency Preparedness, and School Supply lists. Help recruit chairpersons and other volunteers to ensure each service runs smoothly.
VP COMMUNICATION: Collect/distribute information regarding upcoming programs, events, and community issues that impact McAuliffe students/families via weekly newsletters, social media, and the PTSA website. Work closely with school staff, principal, ASB and PTSA board/chairs to collect details on upcoming programs/events. Approve publicity flyers, registration forms, and any communication bearing the PTSA logo.
Join us in shaping a vibrant and supportive school community. Feel free to grab a friend to share a position with. Together, let’s empower our students, staff, and school to thrive. Contact the Nomination Committee at [email protected] to learn more about these rewarding volunteer opportunities! A conversation does not equal a commitment, so feel free to just inquire.
We just like to think of ourselves as a group of parents who are committed to doing what we can for our kids by getting involved!

The McAuliffe PTSA still has open positions for the 2024-25 School Year!
Serving on the board or as a chair is a great way to make connections with other McAuliffe parents and help build a strong school community. Find a friend and share a position. Share your skills or learn new ones.
Contact president@mcauliffeptsa.org if you are interested in volunteering for any of the following roles or would like more information. A conversation does not equal a commitment, so feel free to just inquire.
Below are brief descriptions of the roles we are looking to fill.
Advocacy Chair: The Advocacy Chair is the link between identifying a concern and seeing a change enacted. The chair will share state advocacy news and help the PTSA determine how to get involved in educating our members on local advocacy issues.
Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Chair: this chair will help seek ways to engage and provide meaningful services to ALL our families. They will work with the Executive Committee and DEI chair to develop practices that are inclusive and equal for all families and that result in positive change.
