Become a PTSA General Member
When you join the McAuliffe PTSA, you become part of the Washington State PTA (WSPTA) and National PTA, nonprofit membership associations that advocate on behalf of all children. Together we are a powerful voice and a relevant resource for families and communities. According to the WSPTA, studies have proven that membership in a PTA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. As a member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. Check out its website (www.wastatepta.org) for the many things it has accomplished!
Benefits of being a member As a member, you are eligible to receive discounts from many nationwide businesses such as Staples, AARP, Hertz, MetLife Auto& Home, Schwan’s Home Food Service Delivery, Sylvan Learning and more. Click here to find out more about these great discounts!
Also, your family will receive a free McAuliffe Student Directory, which is published and distributed by late November.
Why Support the PTSA? The PTSA provides funding for things such as extra classroom supplies, Stars Reading Program, Accelerated Reading Program, IXL Math program, Art Start, ASB, assemblies, visiting authors, field day and field trips. The PTSA grants money to the school to pay for the Risograph copier and production materials such as paper and ink.
Every year, the PTSA grants money to teachers so they can refresh their classroom with new supplies such as books, special paper, white boards, markers and prizes. Last year we were able to provide many things that were on our teachers’ wish lists, thanks to you! The items they received enhanced each student’s experience and education in the classroom.

The PTSA is dedicated to enriching the education of our children and supporting McAuliffe staff. With the amazing fundraising that was completed during 2016-17, we were able to purchase new play equipment, provide unique art opportunities, and help our teachers to improve their classrooms and purchase new supplies.

The PTSA is committed to the safety of our children and staff. In 2013-14, board members approved the purchase of perimeter signs that were recommended by the Sammamish Police Department to increase security around the school. The PTSA will continue to support and enhance safety at the school.

The PTSA organizes fun community-building events such as the Ice Cream Social, Talent Show, Family Dance, International Night, Used Book Rodeo and Bingo Night. Last year the PTSA was able to make these events FREE for McAuliffe families. Check out the list of accomplishments below.
If I Join the PTSA, Do I Need to Volunteer at the School? Joining the PTSA as a member does not mean you also have to volunteer; however, if you would like to get involved beyond your membership, your contribution of time and talent helps make PTSA programs and events come to life. We can’t do it without your help!

General Membership Meetings
Three times per school year, the PTSA holds meetings to which its general membership is invited. Everyone is welcome to attend; however, only PTSA members can vote on any issues presented at the meeting. Light refreshments are provided, and attendance is greatly encouraged!
If you have any questions or would like to add an item to the agenda for a General Membership Meeting, please contact our PTSA president.

100% Membership Goal Achieved...Five Years in a Row!
Every year, the PTSA strives to reach a membership goal of 100% -- this means that for every student at McAuliffe, there is a parent PTSA member. For the past five years, the McAuliffe PTSA has achieved 100% Membership. In 2014-2015, only four PTSA units in the entire LWSD achieved this status.
Thank you for being a member of our PTSA, which supports our state and National PTA programs as well.
