Reflections
Program Overview
Designed to enhance rather than replace a quality arts education, the Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves and to receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts.
The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.
Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. Themes are selected from thousands of ideas submitted by students to National PTA's Reflections Theme Search.
Young artists get involved in Reflections through their local PTA or PTSA. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video and Choreography/Dance.
Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form which includes the student's name, grade (or first period) teacher's name, and parent's or guardian's signature. Be sure you have read the rules and comply with them, so that your entry is not disqualified.
All participants will receive a certificate, participation ribbon at the Reflections Art Walk.
Up to four finalists chosen in each arts category will receive an additional award of achievement and their picture in the McAuliffe yearbook.
All participants will be recognized and artwork will be displayed.
ATTENTION! A Reflections Workshop focusing on the Visual Arts will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Room B124. All art supplies will be provided and it will be from 2:05-3:30pm. We will have art coaches available to help answer students questions. All rules and student entry forms can be found at www.lwptsa.net/Reflections . All artwork entries must be returned to the McAuliffe Office by Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
