VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES – PARENT POWER!

Volunteers are needed to help run our PTSA programs.  Please click here to complete the Volunteer Application Process required by the Lake Washington School District (LWSD) prior to your volunteer assignment.

·       Campus Enhancement Chairperson Needed:  The McAuliffe PTSA is looking for someone who is interested in organizing volunteers to help keep the school grounds looking nice.  This would be a great opportunity for that dad or mom who enjoys working in the yard to get involved with our children’s school.  If you are interested please refer to your ParentOrganizer.com notification for contact information.

·       McAuliffe PTSA Nominating Committee Needed

·       Family Dance Volunteers Needed:  The Hip Hop Music Awards Family Dance is scheduled for Friday, January 25th from 6-8 pm in the Commons.  The dance committee is looking for volunteers to help with various shifts.  If you are interested please refer to your ParentOrganizer.com notification for contact information.

·       Health Room Volunteers Still Needed for 2007-2008 School Year:  Please consider volunteering in the McAuliffe Health Room.  Parent volunteers are still needed to work the following shifts:

Wednesdays   10 – 12:00

Thursdays   12 – 2:00 (every other)

Fridays   12 – 2:00 (every other)

No prior experience necessary.  A brief training session will be held for new volunteers.  This is a great way to be involved and to provide an invaluable service to McAuliffe.  SPECIAL PARKING PROVIDED FOR VOLUNTEER!   If interested, please contact Cathryn Brown at cabrown@lwsd.org or (425) 836-6680.

·     L.I.N.K.S. – Looking Into the Needs of Kids and Schools.  LINKS was formed by parents and community leaders in the Lake Washington School District who recognized that many schools suffer because of the shortage of volunteers.  School volunteer opportunities include lunch buddy, assisting with one-on-one reading and math, participating in the Art Docent program, assisting teachers with grading papers, helping in libraries, and general classroom assistance.

·     PTA Men

·     PTSA Committees need your help chairing or helping out with a program that appeals to you.

·     Reflections Volunteers Needed - The Reflections Program is a great opportunity for students K-12 to submit artwork in any of the following categories:  Photography, Film/Video, Literature, Visual Arts, Dance/Choreography, and Musical Composition.  Student’s entries are judged at McAuliffe Elementary School and may continue on at the district, state, and national levels.  All Reflections participants will be recognized at a wonderful Art Gallery Walk and Reception in late November.  If you are interested in helping with advertising, recognition of students, and the Gallery Art Walk, please check your ParentOrganizer.com notification for contact information.

·     Safe Arrival Volunteers needed - The job requires comparing the recorded messages on the Safe Arrival phone line with the teachers’ attendance lists and verifying any unexcused absences.

·     Spaghetti Dinner & Family Night  - Volunteers are still needed to help in the kitchen and with serving food the night of the event.  If you are interested in helping out, please refer to your ParentOrganizer.com notification for contact information.

·     Yearbook Committee - If you are one those parents who always have a camera in your hand, the Yearbook Committee is a great way to show off your photography skills.  The only 3 qualifications you need are camera, internet access and love of taking photos.  This is also a great committee for parents who work because most of the work can be done any time at home.  Your level of participation can range from only taking photos and uploading them to the website, to actually constructing yearbook pages, or to helping with one of our larger responsibilities (i.e. Yearbook Cover Contest, sales, advertisement…).  There will only be 2-3 meetings.  If you are not available for the meetings, you will receive an agenda prior to the meeting and Minutes afterwards.  Training is provided to meet your needs.  Please refer to your ParentOrganizer.com notification for contact information.
