Track Math. Beginning Chinese Club Registration
Closed. Grades: 1-6 Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:40-4:30 pm January 27 – April 23, 2009 Location: Pod A - Room 110 Price: $170 per student Chinese Club will be
taught by Jodi Bean. Jodi lived in China for six years and has had years of
experience teaching and working with children Beginning Chinese is an eleven
week introduction to Mandarin Chinese. The emphasis will be on conversational
Chinese and a chance to learn written Chinese characters as well as pinyin (a phonetic version of written
Chinese). The class will have cultural experiences like the celebration of
the Autumn Moon Festival and opportunities to learn Chinese history. Beginning Spanish Club
Registration Closed. Grades: 1-6 Mondays & Wednesdays 8:00 am–8:45 am January 26 – April 22, 2009 Location: Pod A - Room 110 Price: $170 per student Enrollment: Minimum 6/Maximum 15 Spanish class will be
taught by Hortencia Acosta. A native
of Columbia, she taught Spanish at McAuliffe for two years for one year
at Smith Elementary. Children’s Technology Workshop

7 Design a Video Game! The Gamemaker Video Game Creation
programs teach students the fundamentals of computer programming and video game
design. Each with their own laptop (for the duration of class anyway!),
students will program an age-appropriate computer game using the Children’s
Technology Workshop Gamemaker tutorials. They will learn how to create
characters, make them move throughout the game and interact with other game
objects. While customization and creativity are encouraged, we do maintain a
strict non-violence policy. At the end of the course, students will take home
a CD-ROM containing their game files so they may play their game at home. Science Adventures Registration Closed. Grades: K-6 Wednesdays 2:10 pm-3:10 pm Location: McAuliffe Commons Price: $70 per 5-week Session Enrollment: Minimum 12/Maximum 20 January 21-February 25: Astro

worlds of our solar system and leap among the stars of the Milky Way to
explore glowing constellations. Join us as we investigate the stars in an
exciting journey to the farthest reaches of our universe! March

Anatomy Academy On your marks! Get set! Go!
From nutrition to your heart take a tour of the human body and discover the
science behind keeping fit. Mix a sports drink, build a working model of a
muscle and test your lung power as you discover how the body works from the
inside out. April
15 – May 13: Slime Time It’s time to get slimed! Usually thought of as
gross, the wonderful world of ooze reveals some amazing science. Polymers,
phosphorescence, and the scientific method are all explored as you find out
that some of the best science can get a little messy! Please do not use the General
Registration form for the following classes. Registration information and link
are at the end of each description. Music Lessons on Wheels – Piano
Registration Closed. Grades: K-6 Wednesdays – ˝ hour twinned lessons, 2:00–6:00 pm Begins January 14, 2009 Location: Pod A - Room 110 Price: 6 lessons/$125 12 lessons/ $220 Enrollment: Minimum 6/Maximum 15 Music Lessons on Wheels is now at
McAuliffe Elementary, bringing fun-packed piano adventures to children ages 6
and up. We teach the majority of our students in pairs; we give each pair a 30-minute
lesson. Your child will learn the cool basics of music AND, if they stick
with it for a bit, we’ll even teach ‘em duets! Use Music Lessons on Wheels registration
